John 10  •  3/24/15

In a culture where sheep and shepherding were intimately known and understood, when Jesus said “that He enters by the door; that He knows His sheep by name; that He was the good shepherd; that He was the gate, that His sheep know His voice…" all that had to blow their minds.

That metaphor was incredibley powerful in a culture that very well knew the closeness of the relationship between a shepherd and his sheep!

For us in this day and age — not so much - because we have little feeling for, nor understanding of that relationship.

It is a striking example of the "Bible being written for us but not to us!”
